Bridging the Gap1

In today’s economy, our citizens and community leaders are looking for tangible results from the transportation planning process. The creation of realistic transportation solutions through the development of a comprehensive KYOVA 2040 Metropolitan Transportation Plan must be forward thinking. Plan recommendations must be interrelated and will impact long-term regional growth potential and quality of life.

The KYOVA Interstate Planning Commission has developed a final version of the 2040 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP). The MTP encompasses a comprehensive multimodal plan (including highway, bicycle, pedestrian, transit, aviation/maritime/rail, and freight travel), land use integration, and a fiscally and financially constrained implementation plan. The MTP also addresses and prioritizes local and regional issues within the study area. The final KYOVA 2040 MTP is available here (64MB).

The 2040 MTP planning process was transparent and open to the general public. From the stakeholder process to the public outreach meetings and leadership symposiums, the citizens of the KYOVA region were given the opportunity to provide input on the outcome of the study. This open process allowed the Steering Committee and consultant team to develop a plan that is based on the desires of the community and supported through the implementation process.
